Born and raised in Northwest Ohio, Steve Arndt has spent a lifetime serving others in his community. Whether it was his 9 years on Elmore’s village council serving as council president, 27 years as an Ottawa County Commissioner, or the last 3 years as the State Representative for Erie and Ottawa Counties, Steve has maintained a commitment to his community and the things that make it so special. Steve has worked to protect Lake Erie and our environment. He has attempted to make our area a place where small businesses can thrive. And he has always been a fighter for the laborer and farmer.

Steve served on the Northwest Area Office on Aging as their board president for many years, which covers nine counties, and the Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce board of directors . Additionally, he has also been a small business owner for over 30 years, and he has spent time volunteering with several organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America and the Knights of Columbus.

In 2015, Steve brought decades of experience—and wisdom—to the position of State Representative in the 89th Ohio House district when he was appointed to the seat. In 2016, Steve ran a constituent-focused campaign and won with more than 60% of the vote. Since then, he has maintained his focused on economic and workforce development, healthcare, aging, Lake Erie, and education initiatives in the Ohio House of Representatives. Steve and his wife, JoAnne, have been married for 44 years and have two children.

Steve was awarded the Legislator of the year by the Ohio Association of Election Officials and also the Legislator of the year by the Ohio Association of Area Offices on Aging.
